Talk about shrinkage.
They say "pollution". I say "frelling cold water". But while we're on the subject. More wacky news. And who could forget.

My kind of wake.
I don't think this needs further description. But it would enliven the proceedings.

Pass the jar please
What would you do to lose weight, or avoid gaining it? Hedi Slimane, a menswear designer at Christian Dior , has his own secret. At least two British jounalists experimented with it. They're not the only ones.

Why do they hate our freedoms?
In which it is argued that many of the problems within the muslim community are self-made, providing a fertile ground for populist leaders. The floor is open for discussion.

Eat my dust Lance and Floyd
On April 22, 1884, Thomas Stevens set out from San Francisco on a penny farthing. Arriving in Boston on August 4, 1884, he was off again the following April en route through Europe, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan, India, and China. He returned to San Francisco in December 1886. With minimal supplies, no support team, few roads, and despite hostile natives, he managed to travel around the world.

Hockey is the greatest sport of all,
according to Canada's National Post columnist Andrew Coyne. Better than the top quality football/soccer? Rugby? Aussie Rules? In an era when Celebrity Poker occupies a prime spot on weekend TV programming, and even RPS getting better exposure in the US, is this belief true, misguided, or just wrong?
(warnings - it is a National Post article / lots of flash / slow loading / poor layout)

Make the perfect poo.
Bananas are good. Hamburgers no so much. Feed la machine a caca, while a Monsieur 'Ankey ripoff discusses your choices, and rates your output.

CG: Jumping the gun
Really getting ahead of myself here. In about 6 weeks, I'll be a father. I'd like my child to start learning a new language. But which? French may be the most useful within Canada, Spanish the most useful within the hemisphere, and Mandarin is likely the language of the future, but not necessarily within the next generation. If I'm going to start playing tapes and CDs while baby sleeps (and mommy lets me), which should I concentrate on?
(I speak poor French, passable Spanish, and a wee smattering of Mandarin, if that helps)

Sudoku.
I knew some people in my office were into this game. But I was unaware of its massive popularity. Will Sudoku remain popular, or just a fad?

Belinda
Stronach has jumped ship, crossed the floor, and abandoned the Canadian Conservative Party and joined the governing Liberals as a cabinet minister. Will Belinda be enough to keep her new found friends in power after Thursday's budget vote? Only David Kilgour and Chuck Cadman know for sure.

Nooooo!!
It had to happen. One of Ontario's oldest microbreweries, Creemore Springs, has been bought by one of the monsters. While there are still many good independent microbreweries, as well as others that are still works in progress, it can't be seen as a good thing, either in Ontario, or whereever the tentacles of any of the big guys can reach.
